Cangliang Shen, PhD
Dr. Cangliang Shen is an Associate Professor/Extension Specialist at Davis College, Animal & Nutritional Science and Family & Community Development at West Virginia University. Dr. Shen obtained Ph.D. from Colorado State University. Dr. Shen is currently teaching General Microbiology, Food Microbiology Lab, and Food Chemistry courses. Dr. Shen’s research interest is in developing postharvest sanitizing procedures for reducing microbial safety courses. Dr. Shen’s research interest is in developing postharvest sanitizing procedures for reducing microbial safety risks on foods. Dr. Shen has published 44 journal articles, 2 books, and 2 book chapters, and has successfully secured USDA-NIFA food safety research, capacity building grant, and integrated research and outreach project with funds over $2.3 million. Dr. Shen serves as the editorial board member of Journal of Food Protection and Food Protection Trends. Dr. Shen has received Outstanding Volunteer Award of Food Microbiology Division, Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2018. He was the Chair of Food Microbiology for IFT from 2019 to 2020 and is Chair-Elect of Biotechnology for IFT in 2021.
